This incredible cheese is the brother of the weirdly popular Gjetost (Norwegian brown cheese). Gjetost is already the the nearest thing to “cheese fudge,” but Caramore takes it a step further and brings in a nice punch of chocolate flavor to the mix. It’s only been available in the market since 2016 and has pleasantly surprised everyone how has tried it.
The weird part? There is no chocolate or caramel added to this. The cheese, like its progenitor, Gjetost, is made in a slow and patient fashion. Created from the whey of the cheese making process, the whey itself is heated until caramelized. The final product: literally the sweetest cheese we carry. Use the Caramore on toast in the morning, or as a sweet dessert cheese with fresh fruit.
Caramore is available in 8.8 oz packages at The Cheese Shop at both Jungle Jim’s locations for $6.99 each.
