Now that we’ve got the olive “Lingo” down, let’s talk about the olives themselves!
We are going to start with what we think of as beginner olives, the kind that are for those who are just starting to discover the wonderful world of olives and what we have to offer at The Olive Pit.
My first recommendation? The Herb and Garlic Marinade Olive, which is a considerably more mild olive soaked in a delicious herb and garlic marinade. Loads of flavor, but well balanced and not too overwhelming. Next, we suggest trying the Castelvetrano, a bright green, buttery olive in a salt brine. Maybe salt brines aren’t for you, though?
If you don’t want a salt brine, we recommend Cerignola olives, which come in green, red, and black varieties, all of which are mild and in a basic water brine.
Another beginner olive is the Black Portuguese. This beauty is a mild, meaty olive with a delicate and smooth taste. We think it will become one of your favorites. Chalkidikis, from Greece, are a superb green olive and what we use to create “stuffed” olives. It’s mild, buttery, and salty all in one bite.
These are just a few of the delicious beginner olives that we offer at The Olive Pit, so stop by and talk to one of our Olive Experts. We’re here to help you find your perfect olive!
